the assertion about as.numeric setting methods on as.double is a lie; what
happens is that the generic versions of as.double, as.real use as.numeric

the test against tools:::get_S4_generics_with_methods wasn't dropping the
pacakge attribute. (This is a fragile test; would be nice to test what it's
really concerned about).
