This function is a simple call to a&C; routine which gets this name.<rs:function lang="S">getPrimitiveName <-function(obj){.Call("RXML_getPrimitiveName", obj)}</rs:function>Now we turn our attention to providing the low level mechanisms togather some of the information that we need to output the XMLrepresentation of the R objects. There is no (simple) way to get thename of the primitive operation being called in a<sfunction>.Primitive</sfunction> call via user level code. Instead,we must use &C;-level code to get this information.
The code is simple. It consists of including header files thatwe need, using some <file>Defn.h</file> that are not in &R;'s public API.This is not an issue here as this code will eventually be absorbedinto the core, track the changes to the internals or simply disappear.
The hear of this routine is simply to create a character vectorof length 1 and then populate it with an entry which is computed bygetting the name of the primitive operation specified inthe function call given by the <arg>obj</arg>.
<fragmentRef id="includes" />SEXPRXML_getPrimitiveName(SEXP obj){SEXP ans;PROTECT(ans = NEW_STRING(1));SET_STRING_ELT(ans, 0, mkChar(PRIMNAME(obj)));UNPROTECT(1);return(ans);}
The following are the list of header filesthat are needed by the &C; code in this library.Note that we require <file>Defn.h</file>to access <c:macro>PRIMNAME</c:macro><fragment id="includes">#include "R.h"#include "Defn.h"#include "Rinternals.h"#include "Rdefines.h"</fragment>
