title: Tomáš Kalibera Family Fund

On April 1st this year, R-core team member [Tomáš Kalibera](https://www.r-project.org/doc/obit/tomas.html) passed away after
having been diagnosed with a brain tumour less than half a year before.  He
leaves behind his wife Anna and his young son Filip.

Tomáš worked on R not out of a secured academic position but his work was
financed in a project-driven way.  This means that Anna and Filip are not
entitled to the same social benefits coming with senior academic positions. 
Therefore, the R Foundation plans to install funds dedicated to
helping the family, especially supporting Filip's later education.

The R Foundation invites useRs to join these efforts by contributing to our
fund via the donation form on this page:

The form will be open until end of December 2026. We will also forward comments
you may enter in the form above to Tomáš' widow, Anna.
